Transfer unused data
Leaving with data left?
Put it toward your next trip.
Before a plan ends, eSimphony lets you transfer the data you didn't use into data for another country or region, or into your eSimphony Balance (credit for future plans). The earlier you transfer, the more it's worth β and you see exactly what you'll get before you confirm.
How it works
- 1
Open your plan
Tap Transfer data on an active plan, or ask Moza in the app.
- 2
Pick where it goes
Another country or region, or your Balance. You don't need a plan there yet.
- 3
Check and confirm
See exactly how much data or Balance you'll get. Confirm, and it's done.
How the value works
Transfer moves value, not gigabytes. You keep the share of the plan's days still left, minus a transfer fee. Data from a cheaper country buys less data in a pricier one, and the other way round.
- Value of 3 GB in Japan today
- $6.50
- Time value (45 of 60 days left)
- β$1.62
- Transfer fee (10%)
- β$0.49
- Worth to transfer
- $4.39
$6.50 Γ 45/60 = $4.88, minus 10% = $4.39
Illustrative. The app shows your real figures before you confirm.
Good to know
- Very small amounts may be worth too little to transfer β moving data into a pricier country gives you fewer GB.
- Transferred data gets that destination's usual validity for the amount β up to 90 days, and shorter in a few places such as North America. If you already have a plan there that ends later, it keeps that date. The app shows the exact days before you confirm.
- Not from an expired plan, and not to the same country or region. Some promotional and older plans can't be transferred β the app shows which.
- The same fee wherever it goes, shown before you confirm.
- Transfers can't be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Is transferring free?+
No. A transfer fee applies β currently 10% of what your unused data is still worth β and the app shows it before you confirm. The fee is the same wherever the data goes.
Can I get cash back?+
No. A transfer turns unused data into data somewhere else, or into your eSimphony Balance. Balance pays for eSimphony plans and doesn't expire while your account is open, but it can't be paid out as cash.
Can I transfer several plans at once?+
Today you transfer one plan at a time.
When should I transfer?+
As soon as you know you won't use the data. Its value falls with every day that passes on the plan.
Do I need a plan at the destination?+
No. A transfer works whether or not you already have a plan there.
Transfer it before your plan ends
Transfer is in the eSimphony app on iOS and Android. Open an active plan and tap Transfer data.
